The Big Sound Approach to Graphic Design

Meaningful Design – It’s What We Do

Creating innovative designs that are consistent with our clients’ brand identity is a huge part of what we do at Big Sound Marketing. Our aim is to captivate audiences both on and offline, through meaningful and relevant communications.

Our graphic designers work collaboratively with our account management team, focussing on the client’s requirements, brand guidelines and the most effective written copy. Once a brief is finalised, our graphic designers take on the project, identifying the key required characteristics and details and analyse these to create a starting point.

“Creating mood boards is a great way to gain inspiration, collating examples with certain elements that fit the brief and push boundaries. I try to use elements from each piece, such as angular shapes or new ways of presenting data and create my own style, considering the design principles which is always key to creating great designs.” – Hiten Dodia, Graphic Designer

Creating multiple options of a design keeps our designers vigilant in their creativity, ensuring to never settle for the bare minimum. Exceeding expectations is central in the Big Sound Marketing ethos. Using the correct fonts and colour palette of our client’s corporate identity is non-negotiable, creating a strong brand message no matter the format.

The Design Process in Practice

  1. Client, Nexus Leaders, requested an A4 flyer to promote their upcoming event. This would be used on social media as well as in print form.
  2. Our designer and account manager worked together to create a rough template, focusing on colour scheme, imagery and written content.
  3. Designer, Hiten, then performed some design research, concentrating on the layout and the placement of the design elements on the composition, and created a mood board.
  4. Knowledge of the brand’s usual approach and values helped our designer to narrow down his search and identify more dynamic layouts that were coherent with the business’s assets. For example, the Nexus Leaders logo is very angular, so this concept was very transferrable to the flyer.

“I focused on the hierarchy of the design and what things should be seen first by the viewer when they’re looking at the design. I made the title bold which is most important and adjacent to it the keynote speakers which is another important part in green. The dynamic angular shapes draw your eyes down the page towards the event’s details in a black shape, consisting of the date, time and location. I kept the angular shapes consistent throughout the design to create harmony within the composition.

By focusing on the design principles, I created a simple but effective design which would allow the viewers to read the information easily and invite them to the event.” – Hiten Dodia

The design process is constantly evolving, using our client’s feedback, preferences and brand identity to stay consistent and providing well structured, creative designs that exceed expectations.
