Filming and Producing Content For DAF Driver Challenge Final 2024

About the Project

DAF Trucks UK wanted to make their 2024 UK & Ireland Driver Challenge unforgettable. This two-day event put the best commercial vehicle drivers in the UK and Ireland to the test through a variety of challenges. With 150 drivers in regional heats and 21 finalists at the main event, it was a big deal that deserved equally big coverage. In addition to organising and executing the whole event, our role at Big Sound Marketing for video specifically was to:

  1. Film and edit exciting content from five event locations, showing off the skill and energy of the competitors.
  2. Share same-day edits on social media to keep the online audience engaged and informed.
  3. Create a standout highlight reel that captured the heart of the event for everyone to enjoy afterward.

What We Did

It was imperative to capture the excitement of the weekend from every angle, prioritising high quality shots that really displayed the action of the challenges. Two Bigs Sound Marketing videographers were on site for the weekend, ensuring all locations and drivers were featured in the coverage. Partnered with their impressive skillset, the high-quality equipment ensured all footage was crystal clear. We also used Go Pros to get right into the action during the driving challenges. To immerse the audience, our videographers worked hard to really capture the essence of the locations and challenges, using drones to add great perspective, and stunning aerial views.

We covered five locations over two days, filming everything from precise on-road driving to rugged off-road challenges in a quarry. The team worked collaboratively to make sure we didn’t miss a single moment.

Same-Day Edits

To keep the excitement going, we created and shared same-day edits so that the DAF Trucks UK social media channels were active throughout the weekend, keeping the audience engaged with fresh updates and really involving them in the competition as it unfolded. Consistent coverage was crucial in building up the excitement to the winner announcement, allowing them to make their own predictions and get to know some of the competitors. These quick edits were key to the growth of the event’s reach.

Highlighting the Best Moments

After the event, we put together a polished, TV-style highlight reel that brought the whole competition to life. It featured:

  • The most exciting moments from the challenges.
  • Interviews with drivers, including the winner, Costica Moscal.
  • Beautiful drone footage and action shots that showed the scale and skill on display.
